It was some loud-mouth politicians showing off to their base and to their boss in Washington. They found something that they could bully Canada for, without actually having to do something. The problem is, they misunderstand our resolve and resilience. They think we will collapse without them. Sure, we may have to take a little pain as we disengage our economy from them, but we take that. And so far, it seems our economy is doing better than theirs.
Don't like our smoke? Tough titties, boys. Remember all those years that your coal-fired pollution came north from the Ohio Valley, acidifying our lakes and killing our forests. Karma is a bitch.
It is completely understandable to feel this way. I know U.S. people who say they don't support trump and who seem to be intelligent yet they still insist that they have always protected Canada while Canada has done nothing for them. You used to show us the things worth fighting for in our beautiful country, and what makes us so unique in the world. Whether they know it or not, more bad things are coming for the US, starting with the toppling of their economy. Protecting Canada from that mess is Carney's primary work right now. The US's days as a global superpower are over, because even after the current administration is gone, no one trusts the US any more. That trust will take years to build up again. In the meantime, learning a little humility and understanding that Canada is your colleague and not your junior sidekick would go a long way.

They can put tariffs on Canada but Canada cannot impose counter-tariffs or ban booze in response. They can bully Canada but if Canada dares to fight back then they call Canada nasty. Out of idle curiosity I went on Windy.com to check out the METARs (Meteorological Aerodrome Report) for airports from Vancouver BC to Lethbridge AB.
Now METAR's are important, as they tell both inbound and outbound pilots what the local conditions are like at the airports they are flying in and out of. The cover things like visiblity, ceiling, cloud cover, types and heights, perceptation types and strenghts, air pressure, temperature, things like that. They are produced hourly and if there is a major change between reports, a SPECI's (Special Report) is when and as required.
All the airports I checked, YVR (Vancouver BC International) YXX (Abbotsford BC International) CYDC (Princeton BC Airport), CYYF (Penticton BC Airport), CYCG (Castlegar BC Airport). CYXC (Cranbrook BC Airport) CYQL (Lethbridge AB Airport) are reporting smoke with visibility down to 3 statute or standard mile with skies clear.
Think about that for a moment, the skies are basically clear but ground visibility is down to 3 miles. And some of the airports are recording a lower ceiling due to an over head smoke cloud.
Now this weekend is the Annual Abbotsford International Airshow, and the temps are expected to be in the high 20's to mid 30's C which on the tarmac is going to be bloody baking. Toss in a air advisery warning from Enviroment Canada, warning people to avoid heavy exercise and to stay inside if possible, especially if you have respiratory issues. The poor air quality is going to make going to the airshow a bit more uncomfortable and miserable.
And where the fuck is all this smoke coming from? Welp it's not from any of BC local wildfires, but rather it is coming from the fires burning out of control in Washington and Oregon states, fire that Canada has sent crews and equipment to fight.
And still the fucking Septics bitch about smoke back east coming into the states from Ontario and Quebec and they remain remarkably quiet about the two fires in if I am not mistaken Michigan that jump the border and entered into Ontario.
People wonder why I have zero love and empathy toward the US and its people, its shit like this thats the reason. So fuck the lot of them and the fucking smoky horse they rode in on.
